Taking A Breather

This a an open stretch between two dividers for vehicles to make a u-turn.  A Kolkata Traffic Police personnel takes off his helmet, possibly to get some breeze and cool off, while maintaining an eye on the oncoming traffic. It cannot be an easy job, to be on the feet for an entire shift, however long be the duration, in all weather and exposed to vehicular fumes and be on the lookout for traffic violations.

I bet he sees a lot and hopefully gets paid enough!?! Good catch, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Not too sure about that. It's just recently that the previous left leaning provincial government was democratically overthrown by another party.

I love those night shots. Great light here. I know the Police officer has a difficult job. As for the standing all day on your feet. You get used to that, I am in a 'standing' full time job. (That is 40 hours, in Holland)
But I am not in the traffic fumes.
Ayush Basu: I myself am no stranger to the standing nature of certain jobs and certainly sympathize with him. Your observations are very correct. Thank you for the visit and sharing your thoughts. I hope the two of you have a great weekend.

A well deserved breather indeed Ayush. A lovely shot, well caught.
Ayush Basu: Certainly. It cannot be easy for them. Thank you

Yes he's certainly looking vigilant Ayush: this is a good atmospheric shot
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the observation. I always thought there was something about uniforms that project a vigilant authority

Obviously a diligent policeman, Ayush
Ayush Basu: It does seem so, Lisl. Thank you for the comment
Not much fun. They used to have policemen here years ago directing traffic, but you seldom see them doing it now. come to think of it you seldom see a policeman here grin
Ayush Basu: I was in a place called Derby for a while and on some occasions I saw some policemen, with their distinctive checkerflag peaked caps [is that an accurate description?]

The classic thankless task - but not quite as bad as traffic warden. You catch the mood.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the visit and the comment BD

Good to hear that they still have traffic police. We seem to have lost those now in the UK and rely on CCTV everywhere. I like the street stalls.
Ayush Basu: That they have. How much effective they are, is open to debate.

Interesting street capture, you get a real sense of his vulnerability in the road.

Yes I suppose it gets quite warm what with a tin hat on your head Ayush.
great capture of the night street Ayush..
Great shot, Ayush - I wish we still have a few coppers at the road junctions - driving behaviour has become dreadful.
A particularly vibrant picture, Ayush.
Great street shot Ayush!
