photoblog image Weapons of Mass Destruction

Weapons of Mass Destruction

As mentioned in the previous post, Goddess Durga is depicted with ten arms. She is known as the slayer of Mahishasura, literally the buffalo demon. He did not go down easily; they battled for ten days at the end of which Durga succeeded in slaying Mahishasura exactly at the change of lunar phases.

The weapons in each of her arms are divine, having been given to Durga by Indra, Brahma and other gods.

Everything is fierce here - including that decorated spanner!
The second arm down is holding a blade from a circular saw. She certainly is dangerous.

Poor Mahishasura - what could he do against ten arms?
Or a rock star busting his guitar!

Lovely framing and detail in the photograph. In interesting text to go with it.
Very nicely illustrated with this extraordinary image... I certainly would like ten arms to multi-task throughout the day :^)
Quite a story there!
