Young & Old

Taken during a recent walk through Mac Ritchie Reservoir in Singapore. It is one of the last remaining tracts of tropical rain forests within Singapore and indeed, any other city in the world. Or at least not that I am aware of.

Normally when mature, tall trees block out the sunlight, there is not a lot of growth below and there is some competition among saplings to gain nutrients such as sunlight and water from the soil. Once a tree falls, there is then a sudden spurt in the growth of these saplings.

You have captured the essence of rainforest floor here, Ayush.
Nature has it all worked out. Light=life
I like this shot very much. The new growth looks so fresh and new. When in Australia, I visited many, many rainforests. This was so delightful for a forest person like myself.
very nice Ayush!
Not only is it a fine shot of nature at work but it is also such a simple composition.
It is essential that we not destroy our remaining rain forests. To have this tract of tropical rain forest within Singapore is a great gift indeed, Ayush. Your image here captures its essence beautifully.
Well presented, Ayush.
Nice bit of natural minimalism!
Good eye Ayush - beautiful composition, love those greens!
