Evidence of some minor work going on, temporarily halted. The place is the Toa Payoh Seu Teck Sean Tong Temple [quite a mouthful]. The function of this temple is not only as a place of worship but also to extend charity to the needy, free medical services at the Temple premises and the donation of coffins to the destitute. Since being first constructed in 1942, it grew in size and drew a strong following of worshippers. Expansion plans were hampered by financial constraint and would have fallen through, if not for the strong willed donations. Today it stands surrounded by the residential high rises of Toa Payoh town.
