Man of the Forest

That's what the words orang utan mean in Malay. The Singapore Zoo has an extensive area with tall trees, sturdy vines and sitting platforms high up in the air to enable these apes strengthen their climbing skills and laze around (such as the one above). There are several boardwalks on the ground which visitors can take to get closer to the free ranging orang utans. Orangutangs in zoos...even beautiful, well maintained ones like Singapore's...always leave me with a sense of awe combined with sadness.

Your excellent image has that effect, also, Ayush.

I like the way you have caught the light on his fur contrasting with his dark, intelligent face
Excellent capture in this light Ayush!
This one has a smile for you.
This is a lovely picture Ayush, these are really nice creatures I always think.
He looks a bit bored, but also naughty!

Nothing better than a lazy day at work grin Well spotted and noticed, NOT walk underneath him/her.
Great picture.
very well captured shot. The shot which can express lot beyond what we can imagine. Just brilliant.
Ayush Basu: I read somewhere that most apes are mentally very quick and need lots of stimulation to keep their brains occupied, if not they get bored easily. I am guessing this one was probably not finding anything worthy of its attention
