Aka the meerkat. I had seen this creature in documentaries on tv but didn't retain the name for long. While meerkats are foraging for food, they will post one of them on guard duty, looking somewhat similar to the image above. They emit varying calls to signify all good or not.

"Yip, yip!"

which translates as:

"Attention, please...I have spotted a harmless photographer at 6 o'clock and stationary!"

One of my favorite animals! Love the pose and the curiosity. I've got a dog that sometimes takes this pose and it always reminds me of a meerkat smile The lines in the background compliment his pose!

Wonderful! The pose is so characteristic, and the colours and the vertical lines in the background tie everything together.
We get a lot of these characters on a series of television adverts, they seem to be very intelligent.

I have seen the Marmots keep watch in the Pyrenees, but they always looked much more laid back. This is a great picture of a fascinating animal, Ayush
