White Tigers are supposed to be a mutant relative of the Bengal Tiger, but these two seen at the Singapore Zoo are apparently closer to the Sumatran Tiger. The white colour arises from a gene which also leaves their eyes blue.
Cannot recall the details now but a couple of years back, a zoo keeper was mauled to death by two tigers. It was known whether the keeper was suicidal, but he had been behaving erratically when he stepped into their enclosure. Possibly the tigers , agitated by the broom in his hands, interpretted that as aggressive move on their territory.
Helpless onlookers raised an alarm but it was swiftly over for the keeper.
