Traditional Thai Dance

Thailand is home to many dances forms, depending on the various regions of the coutnry. They receive royal patronage, but of late they have diminished in popularity. Wearing elaborate, tall golden headdresses, the dancers not only dance but flamboyantly act a story. I understand that sometimes dancers will play a single character for their entire career. This particular dance show was at the Kalare Night Market in Chiang Mai, along with dinner. I found the hand gestures quite fascinating

They do have amazing hand dexterity- I've tried some belly dancing, which although quite different from this- also requires very elaborate hand positions which I've not been able to master!

I believe each gesture is supposed to mean something different.
Ayush Basu: Right, in fact the entire dance has a theme or some kind of epic behind it.

I like your decision to focus on the hand gestures and not the face of the dancer - it seems to capture the character of the dance.
Precise motion... fascinating... particularly that little gap between index finger and thumb...
