In the centre of Chiang Mai are the remains of Chedi Luang, a massive chedi, damaged in an earthquake. This temple was at that time of the evening, partly in the shadows of the chedi. The chedi itself, a magnificent piece of Lanna architecture, falls outside the frame on the right side, beyond the moat. I chose to do this in HDR as the golden facade of the temple was lost in the shadows cast by the massive chedi whereas the walls and roof tops on the left side of the image, lying just outside the shadow, were still catching the last rays of the sun. Owing to the HDR, the fluttering flags have been caught as separate composites.
