This is inside the most famous building of Venice - the Doge's Palace. It is said that in earlier times, when most visitors from inland came by ships from the sea, the first thing they saw rising out of the water was the unmistakable shape of the Doge's Palace. These steps are in the inner courtyard, leading up to the palace. Excellent example of Venetian Gothic decor.
