Pagodas and affordable housing

It was a cloudy day with bland, flat skies and I decided to try some HDR images. I had my wide angle lens at the Chinese Gardens in Singapore. This shot is taken from one of the Twin Pagodas and seen in the distance over the lake are HDB flats. The Housing & Development Board (HDB) is Singapore's public housing authority and provides residential spaces with recreational and social facilities and amenities.


This image was done in Photomatix (haven't quite got the hang of it yet). I normally do not shoot a lot of HDR and need to fiddle around a bit more. Most bothersome is that halo around the pagoda.

It is fantastic and i like the halo around the pagoda....don't be so hard on yourself Ayush you have created a fantastic photo with your HDR processing.....i don't even know how to do it yet....but i did say yet!!....petersmile

Very good shot Ayush. I dabble with HDR at times and find, like you, the halo problem.

It adds a sense of drama to the image Ayush and therefore making it interesting to look at. Don't be too hard on yourself, just have fun practising. We'll be here to support you smile

The halo results from the contrasting items, as a rule. Your black and white ranges can help. But, whatever - you will get the hang of it.

That's a common problem with HDR I believe. I've no idea how to resolve it, though. I like the view here.
That dramatic sky really gives an impressive backdrop to this lovely pagoda!

Another great subject for HDR Ayush, the halo is a common problem I tend to play with the White point slider to try and reduce it as much as possible. It is just really a matter of adjusting the sliders to get the best effect.

Great job! Some kind of contrast theme you have picked up-- like ornamental work of Pagoda with simple HDB modern flats. You must have been used wide angle lens as the shot captured the scene widely.
