This was taken at the Forbidden City in Beijing, the heart of political power in China for centuries. It is like a city in itself, surrounded by high walls and a moat. I liked the appearance of these doors here, a little faded and rough around the edges but nevertheless retaining some of its original look. Not sure if they have been renovated/replaced over time (probably they have).
