Mälarstaden

Västerås is a small city in Västmanland, central Sweden, located on the shore of Lake Mälaren. In fact the title of this image means "City on the Mälaren". Lying some 100 km west of Stockholm, the city has a small population but is widely known to be a retailing and industrial city. Seen here is the frozen lake during January and the row of apartment blocks in the background. There are some nice restaurants in this vicinity and in summer/autumn, they make a most agreeable location for a lazy lunch. 

 

There is also a world renowned hotel here which is basically a floating, underwater hotel and you sleep in an underwater aquarium, several meters below the waterline. At the other spectrum is the tree house hotel, set 13 metres above a park, with rope ladder access only!

I love your landscape of the city Ayush the ice in the foreground gives it great DOF....but i also read every word of your caption and enjoyed it immensely....petersmile

My brother lives in Gotheborg and I have visited Stockholm. I plan to go round all the other small cities one day. This shot is a good advert and the text was an enjoyable read

That sounds like an interesting hotel for younger guests. A city on the edge of a lake is rather cool also. Nice capture.
