Dortmund is a large city in in the Ruhr area in Germany and home to the St. Reinoldus, probably the oldest Protestant church in Germany. I particularly liked this view as it showed the manhole cover among the patterned stones. I have seen some other covers with the coat of arms (eagle looking to the left) of the city marked on them. Correct me if I am wrong, but I understand the inscription means "City Dortmund - View of St. Reinoldus up to 1943".
