Snapshots from Deutschland: lamp posts

I liked these cast iron lamp posts and hence today’s ‘post’. I felt they went very well complementing the paved stones, the open plaza and the predominantly Renaissance architecture in the vicinity. This image was taken outside the Alte Oper – Alte Oper is the former opera house in Frankfurt. It was almost completely destroyed by World War II bombing (having survived WW I) but was restored later.

They are beautiful lamp post and certainly have a lot of charm. A lovely composition and well captured.

Extremely ornate lamp posts almost Gothic to my mind. They make an interesting capture.
This is an excellent image! I love the compressed space, which makes your composition have such visual impact. Fascinating to look at.
