During my visit there some time back, I felt that Vienna has an extensive and truly world class public transportation system. There are S-bahn, U-bahn, tram and bus networks and the frequency is very good at any time of the day. When it comes to trams (or strassenbahn), Vienna has a fairly unbeatable system. It has been able to hold its own despite the expansion of the later U-bahns. Its fleet has modern tramcars with ultra low floor, futuristic looking vehicles as well as refurbished cars (as seen in the above picture) that serve as a reminder of the past. This particular tram was heading to the depot for a brief respite before embarking again.

But I recall walking a lot there.
My hotel was quite central.
