King George V

A steam locomotive of Great Western Railway Class 6000 4-6-0. They were powerful locomotives named after Kings of England. This one featured here is the first No. 6000 King George V built in 1927 at Swindon and withdrawn in 1962. There were several others as well to be named after monarchs (6001, 6002 and so on) but over time they were scrapped or were involved in crashes. 4-6-0 refers to the wheel nomenclature, implying 4 leading wheels, 6 powered wheels and no trailing wheels.

I declare, Ayush. Between you and a couple other guys here on SC I'm getting my education about all these classic beauties from Britain's past glory days. This past year Astrid and I went to the steam festival in nearby Dordrecht, here in Holland, and even rode one of the classic trains. I can definitely see the appeal!

I love the angle. I remember these well from my childhood. Trainspotting at Exeter St David's Station smile
I'm one of the guys Ginnie refers to, this is a most unusual, and very effective angle for this shot.
