photoblog image The End

The End

A shot of our designated ride on some of the trips, to end this sojourn.

As mentioned before, vehicles of this size are not allowed in the city center of Jodhpur. So we had a small commute to the city gates, where we could hop on to this one. An amazing vehicle! Despite the relatively open and accessible cabin and completely lacking anything by way of seat belts and airbags (the idea indeed!), I actually felt quite safe inside. Despite being decades old (the steering wheel is on the left side of the vehicle), the engine was obviously well tuned by a well mechanic. I can only imagine that (replacement) parts for this vehicle have to be hand-crafted out of a forge or fashioned out of a milling machine or even a lathe. And there were no clouds of black smoke behind us while we hummed at a comfortable cruising speed.

If this was my vehicle Ayush I would take it back to the paint shop and complain.
Des voitures résistantes et qui résistent bien au temps. En revanche, suivre les pièces, il faut être bon mécano pour entretenir ces véhicules, bien pratiques sur les pistes ;-)
Bonne journée Ayush
Old tech is best...
It's amazing what can be done with these old vehicles. There's probably a vibrant local industry involved in keeping them on the road. There's an entertaining part of Jane Jacobs's Cities and the wealth of nations where she describes how Japan's car industry was kicked off by bicycle repair shops smile
It sounds like quite an adventure to travel in this Ayush.
Were the shock absorbers in good order, Ayush?
I wonder if it started life as a military vehicle Ayush

It looks a fine old vehicle to go travelling in smile
Ayush Basu: A bit bone rattling, but I did not doubt its road-worthiness, CherryPie.grin
