Murals of Tiong Bahru 2

Post independence, SIT (Singapore Improvement Trust) built the first flatted apartments here. SIT was not too good in its performance and was replaced by the HDB (Housing Development Board), which on the other hand was a resounding success and is often referred to as the benchmark of modern public housing, the world over.

This is really beautiful - what a pleasure to see this!
Ayush Basu: I thought it was very realistic, Elizabeth!
They 3D effect works well, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Nicely envisioned by the artist, Frank.
Hopefully the caged birds are still singing, Ayush?
Ayush Basu: I was actually able to see the area where they staged the singing competitions, Ginnie - lots of hooks for cages.

I like this Ayush
Ayush Basu: Me too, Chris. This is good street art and not some random, mindless graffiti.
Looks like charcoal drawings Ayush.

It is good that they got it right before the SIT did too much damage
Ayush Basu: A close up revealed it was more of a paintbrush stroke, Bill.
Yes, nobody talks much of SIT anymore.

I always find it interesting when an artist uses such detail.
Ayush Basu: Yes, this artist has a reputation for being quite meticulous and thorough, I should say, Louis.
Un plan rapproché si je me souviens bien de ta précédente publication.
Je vais ouvrir les cages aux oiseaux ;-)
Bonne journée
Ayush Basu: You are quite right, Pascale and a pity about many of them singing while trapped in cages.

Ayush Basu: Oh there's a thought, Elaine! And I did not know your husband was an artist.
Made to look as though done with charcoal. Very nice.

I so love this paint job, it really looks like 3D.
Ayush Basu: Yes, must be the result of considerable skill on part of the artist, Astrid.
